Check out why Finland is Funland!

Hevisaurus

Now I know why Finland is called Funland.
Not only do they have Moomin and a lot of good music, they also have ”Hevisaurus”

A kid friendly metalband where the members are dinosaurs. All lyrics are in Finnish, but it’s real metal music made by Finnish metal musicians with the idea that both kids and parents can like the music. Behind the costumes there is a bit of a mystery where the members can be replaced and some well known artists have featured Hevisaurus. The dino-members are Riffi- Raffi, guitar, Komppi Momppi, drums, Herra Hevisaurus, vocals, Milli Pilli, keyboard and Muffi Puffi, bass. They released their latest album ”Soittakaa Juranoid!” (”Play Juranoid!”) in 2015.
Who knows, this might be the next big thing. We hope that they’ll start singing in english so we all can enjoy their music.

You can see Hevisaurus performing the song ”Jee Hevisaurus” in the clip below.
For more about Hevisaurus you can go to their website.

Steven Adler's Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Steven Adler!

Today we are celebrating Guns N’ Roses first and original drummer, Steven Adler on his birthday!
Instead of playing or writing something from Guns N’ Roses I will tell you about Steven’s own band, named ”Adler”. The band have been around since 2011 after Steven’s other band ”Adler’s Appetite” broke up. ”Adler’s Appetite” is worth looking up, they have some good songs too, for example ”Alive” and  ”Fading”.

The band ”Adler” are Hollywood based, with four members, Jacob Bunton, on lead vocals and guitar who also writes most of the lyrics, Johnny Martin, bass and vocals, Lonny Paul, guitar and vocals and of course, Steven Adler on drums. In 2012 the band released their first album, ”Back From The Dead”. It’s my new favorite album! It dosen’t have one bad song on it and ”Back From The Dead” is an album where you don’t have to skip any songs.
It’s a perfect mix of cool guitars, great drumming, nice lyrics and vocals. This is pure rock music with energy, the right amount of attitude and punch in the music, while still being fresh and interesting.
Something I’m missing in todays music scene.
I think it's a good mix of music and lyrics. Sometimes the lyrics seems to be inspired by Steven Adlers book, Adlers Appetite. If you hope to find Guns N’ Roses here, you will be disappointed. I think Adlers solo album is much better then Slash solo album, because the singer doesnt (try to) sound like Axl Rose. No hard feelings to Myles Kennedy, who is great live. Steven Adler said in an interview how he like to be in this band and the energy this band have hasent he felt since the earlier days of Guns N’ Roses
Since the whole album is so good it’s hard to choose one song that stands out, but if I had to choose one, it would be the title track ”Back From The Dead”. This song is one of the best songs Ive ever heard. They have not made so many videos to go a long with the music. But here is the video for the song ”The One That You Hated” in the clip below.

Adler will play at the M3 Festival in Columbia, Maryland, US in April, 2016.
For more news about Adler check out the bands Facebook , twitter or blog/site.

Hidden Treasure

Hidden Treasure by Crashdïet

This Hidden Treasure is a tribute to Dave Lepard, the lead singer, guitarist and founder of Crashdïet, who sadly passed away ten years ago today 20th of January. He had a great rock voice and went silent way to early, but we can hear him on the album ”Rest In Sleaze”. A great album that celebrated it’s 10th anniversary last year.

In memory of Dave I choose the song ”Chemical” from the album ”Generation Wild”, 2010, also the first album where we can hear Simon Cruz sing. He was the third singer in Crashdïet and he also sang on Crashdïet’s latest album ”The Savage Playground” 2013, before he left the band in 2015. Simon Cruz replaced Olli Twisted who took over the vocals after Dave, late 2006 - 2008.

This song was released as ”Generation Wild’s” second single and it’s one of my absolute favorite Crashdïet songs. I like the drum intro that actually reminds me of something from Stone Sour, but the song are less metal and more rock. I like the guitar melody that runs through the song, it has a great energy and it’s just one of those songs that you will like and want to hear over and over again. I’d love to hear this song being played live, it would be perfect for that, it’s singalong friendly too so it would be great. This song is in my meaning one of the best songs on the album. I also think this song deserves to be played on the radio.

Thanks Dave for starting one of Swedens best bands. Hope to hear more from Crashdïet soon. Rest in sleaze, Dave.

You can hear ”Chemical” in this mini-player below and you can also get the song on iTunes. For more info about Crashdïet go to their FaceBookpage, website or follow them on twitter

Mötley Crüe reached the end

Mötley Crüe reached the end

An era has ended. December 31th was a sad day for the fans of Mötley Crüe as they played together for the very last time.
But you can say, ”all bad things must come to an end” and quote the song that was the soundtrack for Mötley Crüe’s final tour when they sealed their fate as a band.
A band that have been around since the 80’s, when the whole glam-metal-scene was a big thing and they stood thru the end of the glam era when most bands of the 80’s faded.
They also made it thru the obstacles that have been the members very own decadent way of life and even wrote a book about it. A book that will become a movie shortly.
The last show I saw with Mötley was in Stockholm, Sweden November 2015, and I think they ended on the right note, so to speak.
Everything I thought was lacking at their gig at Sweden Rock Festival 2015, they had now. I have never seen Mick Mars move around that much on stage. Vince Neil was smiling, Nikki Sixx gave the crowd his ”be the knife speech” and Tommy Lee slides over the crowd upside down in the sealing while drumming.
People in the audience where crying as this was the last gig ever for Mötley in Sweden. The fact that Nikki Sixx will be back in Sweden by the summer of 2016 with his own Sixx:am, didn’t bring any comfort to heartbroken fans. And I must admit, it did sting a bit to see the four members that are Mötley Crüe take a final bow in Sweden, as a band, even for me. They really delivered on that gig, with all the pyro-effects, confetti rain, dancers, costume changes, Mick's guitar solo, Tommy's drum solo, Nikki's fire shooting bass and so on.
They had Alice Cooper to play as a very special guest before Mötley went on stage. Alice and his band are a good live act as always and got the crowd going.
As an opening act they also brought along the Canadian-American band Saint Asonia, that where formed in 2014.

Thank you, Mötley Crüe, for all the good rock music!

Rocklegend

Rocklegend

Today is a sad day, today the news hit the world that Lemmy Kilmister, the singer, bass player and founder of Motörhead has died.
Earlier this December Motörhead finished a world tour that despite some cancellations due to band members health issues, kicked ass, and earlier this year they released the new album ”Bad Magic”. Motörhead wont proceed as a band anymore, but they will still live on thru their music.
And so will Lemmy.

#Lemmy, #RIPLemmy.

Hidden Treasure

Hidden Treasure

There is a reason to my absence lately, and it’s called bad Wifi connection, I sincerely dislike bad internet connections.
But now I’m back in the New York Groove… My Hidden Treasure this time, is from the NY rock musician and guitarist, singer songwriter, composer etc. Steve Conte and his solo band named “Steve Conte NYC” where he sings and plays the guitar. The song is “Dark In The Spotlight” taken from The Steve Conte NYC Album”. He is a very versatile musician and have done nearly countless things, among them, been the lead guitarist in New York Dolls 2005-2010, played with The Crazy Truth, The Contes. He has also made music for series, movies and he plays guitar in The Michael Monroe Band.
Might be a little shame on me here, but it was thru The Michael Monroe Band that I first found out about him. I’ve seen him perform live with the MM band, and I think the music is good and Steve Conte is also great live with this band.
“Dark In The Spotlight” is a song that have got an old rock sound, simple but good music with nice lyrics and good rhythm. A perfect break from all this new and advanced music. This is real instruments and real rock.
I like it, so check it out, you wont be disappointed!

Hidden Treasure

Hidden Treasure

This is a new reoccurring, blog post, named ”Hidden Treasure”. Here I will write about a song that I think is good and it doesn't matter if it’s old or new, from a famous band or a not so famous band or artist, if it’s good it will end up here. The idea is to give you a tip about a song that you haven't heard before and maybe it will open your eyes to something different than what you’re listening to right now.
My first Hidden Treasure is the song ”Nowadays”. My mom played the song the other day and I thought it was good, an up to date rock song with catchy and relatable lyrics and good singing. I was really surprised when I learned that the song is from Richie Sambora’s latest solo-album ”Aftermath Of The Lowdown” 2012. It didn't sound anything like his ”old” solo-albums, ”Undiscovered Soul” 1998 and ”Stranger In This Town”, 1991 that are a bit low-spirited an darker. It didn't sound like ”Bon Jovi” either this is just a good song and I don’t think that so many people have paid that much attention to his solo-albums that actually can have some hidden gems on them.
Check out ”Nowadays”!

Reckless Love - Keep It Up All Night

Reckless Love

Reckless Love is a Finnish rock/glam band that where formed in 2001, they released the EP ”Speed Princess” in 2006 and their self-titled, debut album ”Reckless Love” came out 2010 and their second album ”Animal Attraction” came out 2011. Members are Oliver ”Ollie” Twisted the lead singer, Pepe the guitarist, Jalle Verne bass player and Hessu Maxx on the drums. In 2013 they released their third album ”Spirit”. The band will do shows later this year. Check out my favorite Reckless songs ”Edge of our Dreams” from the album ”Spirit” and ”Born To Rock” from the album ”Reckless Love”.
Reckless Love released their new single ”Keep It Up All Night” September 18th.
This is a happy and lightweight style of music, something for those that are into some of the modern 80’s rock music, like Crashdïet, Dirty Penny, Crazy Lixx and so on, but it works for more hardcore rock fans too, that wants an ear-freshener after all those heavy riffs and drums.

Check out this new noise!

Check out this Fresh Noize!

Demon Speed

Demon Speed is a new band from Nottingham, UK and they have just released their first EP “Hooked”, August 28th.  The band members are AJ who does the vocals and plays guitar, Spider on lead guitar, Berty Burton on bass and Des on the drums. The guys are a mix n’ match from several other bands as current and former members, among current/past bands are Generation Graveyard, Tigertailz and New Generation Superstars.
Featured songs on the EP “Hooked” are:
“Hooked”
“Alive”
“Down in the hole”
“See you fall”
Demon Speed is something to check out if you’re into punk rock. Such as the Ramones or the Sex Pistols or the Clash. I think they have an old school punk vibe/sound to their songs, but it’s not quite that tone-deaf on the wrong note type of singing that some punk songs/music has. My favorite song from this EP is “Alive” so check it out, you can listen to it or download it at www.demonspeed.bandcamp.com  or follow them on twitter @demon_speed666.
Demon Speed will also do some shows this fall in the UK, dates and venues are:
4th October at Aces High Festival in Nottingham,
14th November at Trash in Bradford and
11th December at Alley Cats in London.
