A hint from my iPod!

Right now I can’t stop listening to Gerard Ways solo album “Hesitant Alien”

He was the lead singer in the New Jersey based, modern punk band My Chemical Romance who sold gold and platina with albums like ”The Black Parade” and ”Danger Days”. They reached a massive crowd with their music, that still believes that My Chemical Romance lives on even after the band ended in 2013. When the band had ended Gerard started to work on his soloalbum and it was released in september 2014, followed by a tour that reached Stockholm, Sweden in February of 2015.
A few of my favorite songs from his album right now is “No Shows”, “Millions” and “Brother”. But you can just play the whole album from the beginning to the end and just listen. Again and again!
It’s great to have it playing in the background.
The sound on “Hesitant Alien” is compared to the band My Chemical Romance records, much more mature. Gerard's voice sounds different, but not in a bad way.
It has gotten many fine reviews over the world and the fans seems to love and support Gerard whether he’s in My Chemical Romance or solo. If you are into the modern kind of punk tones like Green Days latest trilogy, “Uno!”, “Dos!”, “Trees!” or if you like All Time Low, The Used etc. you will enjoy this album.
This album has a sort of brit-punk vibes with a hint from My Chemical Romance last album “Danger Days”. You can check out the videos to the songs “No Shows” and “Millions” on YouTube.

Adastra from Finland

Adastra is a heavy metal band from Helsinki, Finland. Influenced by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio and many others. I’d say their music sounds a bit like Iron Maiden but with faster and lighter riffs and it has touch of Dio, that was what I heard when I first listen to them.
The name Ad astra is a latin phrase meaning ”to the stars” and thats what these guys are aiming for.

They have released four albums, the latest of them ”Deadlock” came out in 2015. Prior to that is ”The Last Sunset” out in 2007, ”Death or Domination” out 2008 and ”Corroder of Minds”  that came out in 2012.
My favorite Adastra songs to check out would be: ”Corroder of minds” from the album with the same title, ”Only live at night” and ”Bring me back on track” both from their latest album ”Deadlock”.
By the way, if you get this album as a cd you’ll also get the bonus track ”Nuns have no fun” and also because cd’s are more fun than just download.
Get more information about the band on their own page: www.adastracave.net, where you also can buy their music and read their Studio blog and get to know these guys.
You can also follow them on twitter  @adastra_finland or head over to their Facebook page!
